ORLANDO TRIP INFO EMAIL BELOW

Good afternoon everyone!

Let me begin by saying this email is for Orlando Trip participants, so if you aren't going on the trip with us this weekend, feel free to ignore this email. With that said, I hope everyone is having a great summer, and that you are all excited to be headed to Orlando this weekend! Make sure you pack your INSTRUMENTS (except for percussion), comfortable shoes, swimsuits, and SUNSCREEN!  This is a lengthy and important set of information-PLEASE read it carefully and thoroughly!

Medications

If you listed required medications for your student on the paper form we handed out at the trip meeting in May, you will get an email very soon from Mr. Garoutte asking for more information.

Itinerary

We will be meeting at the High School Band Room (football stadium side entrance), and doors on Sunday will open at 7:00AM, you need to arrive by 7:30AM. The bus will leave at 8:30AM with or without all participants! We will conduct bag checks as students arrive, and will start loading the bus around 7:30AM when it arrives. Please be patient with us in this process. There's nothing to worry about as the itinerary (and its posted location) hasn't changed for a few months, so if you've looked since January, you will see the same information as before. I just wanted to make sure you had a chance to take a look if you needed to. Our itinerary for the week is located on the band website under the "2022 Orlando Trip-HS Band" tab, or at this link: https://hs.rs-wolves.com/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=183351&type=d&pREC_ID=1534412

Park Apps/Trip Apps

If you haven't already done so, please download the "Educational Tours" app from your app store so you can see pictures the kids are taking as they have a great time on the trip! The ETI app doesn't allow for students or parents to track each other's locations or message each other for safety purposes; there are many other apps available (Ex-life 360) if you feel the need to do that. In order to be able to log into the Educational Tours app, please use the following credentials: Username: Garoutte  Password: 44h2sv  Please list your actual first and last name on the app when registering so we know who you are!

You should also consider downloading the "My Disney Experience" and "Universal Orlando" apps, as they are extremely useful in locating restrooms, food, wait times, etc. while in the parks. One note for the Disney app-IF (and only IF) you want your student to be able to use a Credit Card to make reservations or purchase add-ons such as Disney Genie+ or Individual Attraction Selections, the ticket holder (your student) MUST be listed as 18 years of age or older per Disney policy. I also highly recommend bringing a power bank for your phone, as the park apps tend to eat up battery pretty quickly.

Tickets

Tickets for the parks will be distributed to participants when we arrive in Orlando; this helps us with a couple of important logistical issues. Please be aware that any table service restaurant reservations and any experiences not included in the price of the ticket can be made with any major credit card, and do not require proof of admission in their respective park apps.  You are free to reserve times to get a lightsaber built, build a droid, save a spot for dinner, etc. without your ticket being linked to the Disney or Universal apps, you just hold it with a CC. These dining reservations and other experiences are not required. There are tons of quick service and snack stations all across the parks, so it is completely possible to eat all of your meals in the parks without reservations.

Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selections (IAS)

Universal offers Express Passes and Disney offers Genie+ and IAS in order to skip the lines at some attractions. These passes are NOT included in your ticket prices. To learn more about Genie+ ($15 per day fastpass replacement) and Individual Attraction Selections (IAS-Pay to Ride) click here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/genie/lightning-lane/

To learn more about Universal Express passes click here: https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/express-passes

Money

Your students have $20 per meal in the form of dining cards or a buffet meal provided for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner each day, however, we all know how much teenagers eat. There are plenty of options for snacks and quick service meals throughout the parks, and students are able to pay with a Credit or Debit Card on file in their respective park apps listed above. Of course, the choice to trust a student with your CC information is completely up to you, however I wholeheartedly believe the apps are much more secure than carrying around cash on park days. Your students may also wish to bring money for park souvenirs, and I believe those can be paid for in the same manner through the park apps. The only exceptions where gift cards aren't accepted are some places in Disney Springs and Ron Jon Surf Shop, so please plan accordingly as you feel necessary.

Contact Info

By far the easiest way to personally find out what is happening with your child is to contact them on their phone; I also recommend you obtain the contact information of the students your child is friends with in case a phone battery dies, etc.

In the unlikely event there is some kind of emergency in Florida, I will post updates to remind as well as the ETI app. If you aren't on Remind, please text @WPB22 to 81010 to get those updates. If you need to get in touch with me personally, the best way is via email & I have listed my email below; I will be checking my school email regularly while we are in Florida.

See you all on Sunday!

---Josh Garoutte, Director of Bands
