Sports Roundup for Week of September 2-7

The Reeds Spring High School softball team has started the season 2-0. The Lady Wolves first defeated Lamar 12-1, then beat Nevada 6-2. In the first game, pitcher Izzy Erickson struck out 15 batters. She also had a double and two runs scored. Maddison Cantrell had four RBI. 

Against Nevada, Erickson struck out 17 batters and went 4-4 at the plate. Ashley Nolan and Brooke Davis added two hits each.

The RSHS volleyball team started the season with several victories. The Lady Wolves beat Seneca 2-0 and Blue Eye 2-0. In the Branson Tournament, RSHS beat Fair Grove 2-0, tied Lebanon 1-1, and beat Father Tolton Catholic 2-0. In the elimination bracket, the Lady Wolves lost to Fair Grove 2-0.

The RSHS football team lost its home opener to Seneca, 28-16. Colton Cramblett and Sean Gross had rushing touchdowns for the Wolves. Cramblett had 175 rushing yards on 21 carries and Gross rushed for 85 yards and was 11-13 for 94 yards passing. JT Bayliff led the Wolves with 13 tackles on defense. Reeds Spring (1-1) travels to Logan-Rogersville on Friday, September 13.

The tennis team started the year with two losses, falling to Bolivar 9-0 and Aurora 6-3. Freshman Olivia Giebler won both her singles match and doubles match with partner Sophia Brown against Aurora.

The cross country team competed at the Southwest Cross Country Coaches Association meet in Bolivar. Freshman Evan Brandsma was the top finisher for the boys and Nicole Yendes was the lone competitor for the girls.
