RSHS Sports Recap for April 22-27

Reeds Spring High School’s track and field team turned in two impressive performances at meets last week. At Southwest Baptist University, the boys finished third overall. Evan Gross was second in the high jump, Colby Dowdy was third in the 110-meter hurdles, and Troy Froeschle was third in the 100-meter dash. The 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams also won.

For the girls, Paige Rantz won the pole vault, Shelby Strailey finished second in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and Izzy Erickson finished third in the long jump. The 4x100-meter relay team also won.

At the Republic Relays, Troy Froeschle won the 200-meter dash. Evan Gross was second in the high jump, and Colby Dowdy was second in both the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. The 4x100-meter relay team finished first and the 4x200-meter relay team finished second.

Shelby Strailey won the 200-meter dash, Paige Rantz won the pole vault, and Izzy Erickson won the 300-meter hurdles. Erickson also finished second in the long jump. The 4x200-meter relay team was second and the 4x100-meter relay team was first.

The Wolves defeated Springfield Central, 10-0. Justin Locke was the winning pitcher, throwing five innings and giving up just two hits. Ben Moler had three hits and three RBI.Rogersville beat RSHS, 11-6. Cole Watson had two hits and three RBI. The Wolves also lost a heartbreaker to Aurora, 9-8. Seth Stamps had three hits, and Logan Chambers pitched five relief innings, striking out six batters and giving up just two earned runs. The team’s record is 10-6.

The RSHS golf team competed in the Big 8 Tournament in Carthage. The Wolves finished seventh overall. Ross McMurdo shot an 84, which was good for 8th place, and Ty Cooper shot an 87, which was good for 16th place.

RSHS dropped three matches last week, losing to Willow Springs, 8-1, Rogersville, 7-2, and Mt. Vernon, 5-4.
