Mr. Devos' Home Page

This part of the Reeds Spring Schools website is your one-stop place for info about the high school and beginning band, as well as all other classes and groups that are under the direction of Mr. Devos. For information about the middle school bands, please visit Mrs. Plybon's webpages that are linked in the navigation box to the right.
If this is your first visit, please take a look at the specific pages to the right that concern you. The High School Bands page is especially full of good information and materials that you will need to be a successful band member.
Also, please consult the proper Canvas class page, the online band Google Calendar, and any WPBand emails you receive (make sure you are on the emailing list by shooting Mr. Devos an email request) for updates. Check all of these sources REGULARLY in case dates, times, locations, etc. change.
I hope you enjoy your experience in the Wolf Pride Bands and that you will let me know if you ever need any help or information that you cannot find here. Take care and GO WOLVES!

Devos Pedagogy Statement

I believe that teachers who combine technology with music performance instruction are actively providing their students with two of the most powerful learning keys available.

I will provide daily opportunities for my band students to use their devices to self assess their own playing and to model the digital musical resources I have provided on my website and through other channels. I will provide and immerse them in the multitude of tools available (e.g. tuners, metronomes, recordings) and encourage them to make using such tools a part of their daily regimen as musicians.

All band students will use their devices daily to practice and submit performances of sections of the music we are working on at that time. They will have their devices close at hand throughout rehearsal in order to check intonation, tempos, stylistic considerations, etc.

How many “small boldnesses” are in your memory?:

“In the cellars of the night, when the mind starts moving around old trunks of bad times, the pain of this and the shame of that, the memory of a small boldness is a hand to hold.

-John Leonard, critic (1939-2008)
